Wonder World School has always been an innovator and we are keen to look forward, while still recognising where we have been and the special attributes that need to be protected for generations to come.
Wonder World School has a set of organisational values that provide touchstones for everything we do. It’s about how we do things as much as what we do – these are values to work by, that fashion our behaviours as individuals and as an organisation.
Our ‘learning through play’ philosophy and small class sizes mean that the programme is customised for each individual, and learning happens at the pace of your child. We believe learning happens best when children are excited by, and engaged with, their environment, peers and other adults. Children also thrive when they have the opportunity to test their ideas and skills – guided by trained, experienced teachers.
Kindergarten’s traditional role as the stepping stone to school remains as important as ever.
While children once needed to wait until three and a half to attend kindergarten, families can now enjoy all the benefits of kindergarten from two years of age. We recognise the value of kindergarten for 2-3 year olds, so we offer 20 Free Hours to them, too.
Young children begin learning in a variety of environments before they enter kindergarten – in their homes, in playgroup programs and in the community. They bring varied levels of knowledge to any learning situation based on their environment. When our program helps them to explore the world around them and guide them through the transition from home to school, they benefit greatly. Over the years, we have made refinements to our curriculum to meet the objective of nurturing a well-rounded development of our children.
